Night 2
Sologne Region to the Gorges du Tarn
After breakfast, continue south to your accommodation for the next two nights - a splendid 4* Château, which nestles alongside the river that flows through the stunning Gorges du Tarn - one of France's areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Your secretive out-of-the-way Château, built in the 15th Century, has a delightful restaurant, and a lovely terrace where you can take in the views of the Gorge whilst enjoying a relaxing drink.
There is also an outdoor swimming pool, and a private car park.
Your accommodation in tonights' hotel is once more on Bed & Breakfast basis, enabling you to sample the delicious menu.
Night 3
Exploration Day - Gorges du Tarn and the Viaduc de Millau
Spend today at your leisure - take a drive along the amazing gorge road, through the numerous villages that are 'dotted' alongside the river; why not stop for a leisurely lunch at one of the numerous bistros and restaurants? After a morning exploring this beautiful area, drive the short distance to Millau, for your first view of the World's highest road bridge that literally spans the valley in front of you - breathtaking! Stop at the visitor centre to see a video of the construction processes involved in the creation of this fantastic structure. There is also a shop where you can buy many mementos of your adventure. The Tarn area, like most regions of France is famous for cheese - in this case it is Roquefort, a delicious creamy, blue cheese made from ewe's milk - which can be sampled at many of the local outlets.
Accommodation for your second night in this charming Château is again on Bed & Breakfast basis.
Night 4
Gorges du Tarn to Lower Auvergne Region
Today you drive across the viaduc de Millau! After breakfast, you will briefly continue south to join the motorway, which enables you to drive across the World's highest road bridge - a fantastic experience!
You now head north to the volcanic Auvergne region - another truly beautiful area - using one of the most scenic motorways that we have ever travelled.
Your accommodation tonight is a beautiful 15th Century 4* Château situated in the Lower Auvergne Region. In an 'Epoque' style, this elegant Château benefits from a Michelin-Starred restaurant, a large outdoor heated swimming pool, and tennis courts.
Your accommodation will once again be reserved on Bed & Breakfast basis, and we will reserve a table for your dinner in the gastronomic restaurant.
Night 5
Lower Auvergne Region to the Sologne Region
Before arriving at your accommodation for tonight we recommend a visit to the Puy de Dome - the highest peak of the area, where the views of the many extinct volcanoes from it's summit are quite breathtaking.
Tonight you return to the lovely 4* Hotel you stayed at in the Sologne Region on Day 1.
Tonights accommodation is once more reserved on Bed & Breakfast basis, and we will arrange a table for your dinner in the gastronomic restaurant.
